The oil and gas sector has its doors open to listen to young professionals, thus fostering an increasingly innovative, diverse, transparent and sustainable industry. It is in this context that the Brazilian Institute of Oil and Gas (IBP) holds the Young Summit, an initiative of Rio Oil & Gas entirely aimed at students and young professionals, from November 30th to December 2nd, online and free of charge.

"We want to show that the oil and gas sector is also innovative and seeks to modernize its management of technological innovation. This sector is now essential to meet society's aspirations for a fair and safe energy transition, and for that, disruptive solutions will be very welcome", analyzes Cristina Pinho, corporate executive director of the IBP.

Carla Diniz (photo), chair of the Young Summit and director of People and Management at NTS, adds that there is a connection point between the academic environment and industry.

"We always need to renew our chain with a greater diversity of ideas and innovations. Therefore, we welcome professors and educational institutions who wish to share their knowledge and companies interested in attracting and retaining talent that will contribute to innovative processes in the transition to an energy matrix low carbon," she adds.

Discussions

The Young Summit will feature 12 content sessions divided into four pillars. The Career pillar will address trends towards professionalization and training, making the young protagonist of their own trajectory and showing them that, in industry, there is a place for careers beyond engineering, such as library science, medicine, psychology, economics, communication, law , just to name a few examples.

Diversity & Inclusion, on the other hand, will debate initiatives by the industry involving labor relations with equality of gender, race and ethnicity, accessibility, people with disabilities and the LGBTQIA+ group.

The Entrepreneurship and Digital Transformation panel will present the possibility of looking at new challenges with more creativity, agility, clarity and connection with the purposes of a generation.

Sustainability invites young people to participate in the debate on the risks and role of the oil and gas sector in sustainable consumption. The changes that the O&G industry is going through in a world of carbon neutrality will also be discussed. The 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in line with measures to ensure the ESG agenda for the next generations, will be highlighted.

The event's curatorship is supported by several content partners, such as BlendEdu Instituto Proa, École 42, Empodera, Lee Hecht Harrison (LHH), Cmov and MIT Reap.

Online and free of charge, with more than 20 hours of programming, the event will be broadcast directly from Fábrica de Startups to the content hub of Rio Oil & Gas, from 9:30 to 17:00. There will be an interpreter of pounds, interaction with the public via live chat, and participants will be entitled to a certificate.

The Young Summit is sponsored by Petrobras, TotalEnergies, NTS, Prumo and TechnipFMC, in addition to the participation of the Federal Government.
