Energy transition is one of the most important issues on the global energy scene today and one of the highlights in Europe's second biggest trade fair for this sector: ONS 2018, which runs from 27-30 August in Stavanger, Norway .

Inspired by the Innovate theme, the fair is the next hub for the debate on the innovations and technological challenges of the oil and gas industry and for the understanding and decision making on the role of renewable energy in this new context.

The program includes a panel dedicated to Brazil. Energy potential - both with the exploration of hydrocarbons and the generation of complementary renewable energies - makes the country attractive to the international market, keeping it in fourth place in the ranking of the main destinations of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the world.

A long-standing trading partner, Norway is currently the eighth largest investor in Brazil, contributing significantly to economic development and the creation of more than half a million direct, indirect and induced jobs in the country. By 2016, investments Norwegian investors in Brazil totaled US $ 21.3 billion - an increase of 27.6% between 2013 and 2016. Norway's participation in the total foreign direct investment index in Brazil increased by 3.76% between 2011 and 2016.

More than a hundred Norwegian companies operate in Brazil. The oil and gas and maritime sectors are the main routes for investments - accounting for 53% of this market share - and motivated, in 2016, investments of US $ 1.85 billion in the country. Investments in renewable energy, with current share of 13%, register a notable increase and tend to grow.

The Brazilian panel will be under the responsibility of Norwegian Energy Partners (Norwep), which will lead a delegation made up of government institutions such as the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), the National Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANP) (APEX), Petrobras, Equinor, among others, who will talk about perspectives, projects and opportunities, considering the progress made with the recent changes in the regulatory framework for oil and gas exploration.

"I am convinced that ONS 2018 will contribute to solidifying the strong partnerships that Norway and Brazil already have." Brazil has engaged in the conference in recent years and will have a strong participation this year. the two countries share in the energy sector, as well as a greater participation of Brazil in the international arena, "says Sissel Hodne Steen, Consul General of Norway in Rio de Janeiro.

Following the event in Stavanger, the connections continue in September in Rio de Janeiro, during Rio Oil and Gas 2018, and in November in Norway Brazil Weeks - seminars that will address issues such as sustainability of the oceans, innovations in subsea, trends in renewable energy and sustainable fisheries. In the last quarter, there will be a Norwegian trade mission to Brazil, led by Innovation Norway through the Global Growth Program - to encourage the development of Norwegian companies in international markets.
