Started today in Houston, Texas the 48th edition of the largest event in the world for the oil and gas industry - OTC - Offshore Technology Conference at NRG Park. There are more than 2,300 exhibitors and attendees representing around 100 countries. The event is held between 1 and 4 May. 

OTC offers many opportunities for participants who want to learn about new technologies and applications in the offshore industry. 

The Conference starts presenting a look at the Gulf of Mexico with a keynote from Richard Morrison, BP's regional president for the Gulf of Mexico. He will offer his view on the challenges facing operators in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. 

Brazil will also be a theme among the panels of this first day. The new business opportunities in the oil and gas sector, the pre-salt sector and others will be presented.  

 

Brazilian pavilion

For the 17th consecutive year the Brazilian Institute of Oil, Gas and Biofuels (IBP), in partnership with the Brazilian Agency for Export and Investment Promotion (Apex) organize the Brazil Pavilion and since then more than 120 Brazilian companies participated in the event. This year 42 Brazilian Companies will be at the Pavilion.

"The OTC and the Brazil Pavilion act as a great showcase for Brazilian companies. The space helps to publicize national companies, strengthens the market, and allows companies to broaden their contacts and business opportunities with foreign investors, "says IBP Secretary General Milton Costa Filho. 

The Brazil Pavilion will occupy an area of 850 square meters, which will have meeting rooms and a mini-auditorium with a schedule parallel to the official event. We have confirmed 28 lectures from companies such as Petrobras, Chemtech, Radix, Petrec, Ouro Negro and others. The National Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANP) and the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV) will also make presentations. Among the topics to be addressed are the auctions planned for this year, the development of new technologies and challenges of the sector in Brazil. 

In the conference program this year, Marcio Felix, Secretary of Petroleum and Gas, Ministry of Mines and Energy, Brazil, Decio Oddone, General Director, Brazilian National Petroleum Agency ANP and Jorge Camargo, President, IBP will present the major changes, Brazil is promoting, in its regulatory framework aiming at creating a more pro-business environment. 

Marcio Felix, Secretary of Petroleum and Gas, will comment on upcoming E&P opportunities in Brazil, as well as, on the nation´s efforts to establish a new and more welcoming investment environment for the oil and gas industry in the country.

In the pavilion, 10 companies are debuting at the OTC:AMT, Climb Offshore, Frontec, Intelie, Grupo IPB, Ouro Negro, Polar Macaé, Savvy Offshore, Senai Cimatec e Underwater. Another five will demonstrate products and equipment: Oxifree, Powerpoxi, Sodep, Tecnofink e Tecnofink Services. #OTC2017
