The "Strategic Hydrogen Map for Rio de Janeiro," conducted by the Federation of Industries of Rio de Janeiro (Firjan) SENAI SESI, emphasizes the state's potential as a major hydrogen producer. This initiative comes as Brazil rushes to become a significant player in the hydrogen sector, especially with the impending approval of the Legal Framework for Hydrogen by the National Congress. Since 2022, over R$ 636 million have been invested in 46 projects across the country for hydrogen-related research and technology development, with more than half allocated to 14 projects specifically in Rio de Janeiro.

According to Firjan's Vice President, Luiz Césio Caetano, "We are committed to developing technologies and training professionals to address the numerous challenges needed to enable this fuel. We have a network of technology and innovation institutes conducting applied research projects with solutions to maximize hydrogen's potential."

Challenges and opportunities outlined in the document include regulatory frameworks, competitiveness of hydrogen prices against other energy solutions, technological development, and favorable business conditions to stimulate demand. Issues such as certification, standardization, storage, safety, and transportation are also highlighted.

Today, from 9 AM to 5 PM, Firjan, ABNT (Brazilian Association of Technical Standards), and ABH2 (Brazilian Hydrogen Association) hosted the "International Hydrogen Connection: a low-carbon future" event. The event discussed market opportunities, regulatory challenges, and international success stories spanning from energy production to final consumption. Participants included market agents, government officials, and international speakers.

This was the event schedule:
- **9 AM** - Opening remarks by Firjan Vice President Luiz Césio Caetano; ABNT President Mario William Esper; and ABH2 President Paulo Emílio Valadão de Miranda.
- **9:30 AM** - Panel 1: "International Standards, Regulations, and Certifications: Hydrogen needs rules, not colours" with participation from international experts.
- **11 AM** - Panel 2: "Hydrogen in the Brazilian Context" featuring industry leaders and moderated by Carla Giordano, Regional Manager of Research and Technological Services at SENAI.
- **2 PM** - Panel 3: Roundtable - "Challenges of the International Hydrogen Market" with international consul generals and moderated by Carlos Peixoto, founder of H2helium.
- **4 PM** - Panel 4: "Case Studies of Hydrogen Companies Worldwide" with representatives from global companies and moderated by Thiago Valejo, Manager of Oil, Gas, Energy, and Naval Projects at Firjan.
- **5:30 PM** - Closing remarks and launch of the "Strategic Hydrogen Map for Rio de Janeiro" by Karine Fragoso, General Manager of Oil, Gas, Energy, and Naval at Firjan.

This event underscores Firjan's commitment to fostering a sustainable hydrogen industry in Brazil and positioning Rio de Janeiro as a hub for hydrogen production and innovation.
