On Monday (April 28), Petrobras President Magda Chambriard participated, alongside Brazil’s Chief of Staff Minister Rui Costa, in meetings with business leaders, investors, and representatives of the Chinese government at the Brazilian Embassy in Beijing.

During the event, an overview of Petrobras’ activities was presented, with a special focus on the naval industry, highlighting the potential for expanding shipyards in Brazil. Also in attendance were Petrobras Executive Director Renata Baruzzi, Transpetro President Sérgio Bacci, and representatives from the Ministries of Mines and Energy; Development, Industry, Trade and Services; and BNDES.

President Magda Chambriard took the opportunity to invite Chinese investors to visit Brazilian shipyards. “We are here to propose expanding the Brazil–China partnership in oil and gas investments. We see opportunities for Chinese companies to partner with Brazilian shipyards and believe that strengthening our cooperation will bring benefits to both countries. We came to reinforce our ties and propose new business ventures,” said Chambriard at the opening of the meeting.

Transpetro President Sérgio Bacci emphasized the revival of shipbuilding in Brazil’s oil industry. “We plan to contract 25 new vessels by 2030. We currently have idle shipyards in Brazil, and building new commercial and technological partnerships would be key. In line with the Brazilian government’s public policies to boost domestic shipbuilding, we extend our invitation to the business community to explore the opportunities we have in the sector,” he stated.
