On Thursday (May 15), Petrobras signed 41 concession contracts for blocks acquired in the 12th Round of Bidding organized by the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) in a ceremony at the agency's headquarters in Rio de Janeiro. At the auction, held on November 28 last year, Petrobras acquired, wholly or in partnership, 49 blocks of the 50 that were auctioned. 

Among the auctioned blocks, 22 were in partnership, with 16 operated by Petrobras and six operated by partners. The remaining eight contracts will be signed in June.

Petrobras’ Director of Exploration and Production, José Formigli, was at the ceremony along with the General Director of ANP, Magda Chambriard, and the Director of ANP, Helder Queiroz. The Exploration and Production department at Petrobras sees the results of the 12th Round as very good since the Company successfully bid for all the areas it considered a priority. 

The blocks offered in the 12th Round of Bidding are located in recently explored basins and mature basins. The strategy adopted by Petrobras in the auction is aligned with the Company’s objectives to increase its natural gas reserves and production near existing production facilities, by learning more about the Brazilian sedimentary basins and to diversify its investment in exploration. 

Participation in the consortium is aligned to the objective to strengthen Petrobras’ partnerships with Brazilian and foreign companies to integrate their knowledge and technologies used in onshore exploration and production.
