The Petroleum Yearbook in Rio 2020, a study by Firjan, points out 200 new wells in areas tendered as of 2017 in Rio de Janeiro waters; investments of approximately R $ 2 billion in the supply segment by 2024; and collection of R $ 300 million in ICMS for each system that goes into production after the internalization of Repetro Industrialização. The document was released on Tuesday afternoon (9/22) in an online event with the participation of representatives of the federal, state and market organizations.

During the launch of the Yearbook, the president of Firjan, Eduardo Eugenio Gouvêa Vieira, reaffirmed the resilience of the oil market in the country and in the world, due to the low prices due to the pandemic. He highlighted the opportunities that this industry brings to Rio de Janeiro from the large oil reserves in Rio de Janeiro waters, as well as the revitalization of mature fields in the Campos basin, allowing the entry of new operators.

“This is a market that is experiencing shorter cycles, requiring faster responses. The Yearbook brings information that helps the market to face the new challenges ”, said Eduardo Eugenio.

Produced by the federation's Oil, Gas and Naval management, this year's Yearbook brings something new. Following the trend of institutions and large companies in the market, the “Dynamic Data” platform is now available on the oil page of the Firjan website, with online information and tables on the Rio de Janeiro oil market and from the country. Easy to navigate, the platform will be updated periodically with data such as the world energy matrix and international price of the barrel; national Exploration and Production data, with history of drilling by state and basin in the country; Supply, with production and sale by type of product, fuel price; and data on Socioeconomic Reflexes, with government participation, labor market and collection of ICMS from the oil segment in Rio de Janeiro.

“The Petroleum Yearbook is a delivery from Firjan for all those who want to work in this oil market. A query tool, rich in data and, in this version, with dynamic data, which will be updated periodically as they are released by primary sources. A basis for market intelligence, enabling the construction of distinct and segmented scenarios to support decision making. In addition, a reference for the projection of resources for RD&I and revenue collection by the state ”, highlights the federation's Oil, Gas and Naval manager, Karine Fragoso.

According to the yearbook, oil production in Rio de Janeiro grew, reaching 81% of national production in July 2020. In addition, in 2019 the state reached the rate of 45% of jobs in the oil supply chain; and between 2019-2020 the refining park in Rio de Janeiro stood at 70%.

In addition to Eduardo Eugenio and Karine Fragoso, Philippe Blanchard, president of the federation's Petroleum, Gas and Naval Council and president of Total E&P do Brasil; José Mauro Ferreira Coelho, Secretary of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels at the Ministry of Mines and Energy; Clarissa Lins, president of IBP; Raphael Moura, interim general director of the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP); Claudia Rabello, undersecretary for Oil, Gas and Energy of the State of Rio de Janeiro; and Heloisa Esteves, director of Oil, Gas and Biofuels Studies at the Energy Research Company (EPE).
