Port reached second best monthly cargo volume in its history
BrazilGovNewsCargo movements at the Port of Santos reached more than 12 million tons in September, making for the second best month in the port's history.
In the month, imports reached 3,265,971 t, while exports amounted to 8,977,803 t. Maize was the main export, with 2,733,380 t shipped (up 93.6% over the same period last year).
Shipments of sugar (6.6%), alcohol (51.6%), meat (41.5%), citrus juice (13.2%), disodium sulphate discharges (57.6%), naphtha (39.3%), methanol (38.3%), salt (16.4%) and caustic soda (2.4%) all contributed to the positive growth in cargo handling at the port.
The main destinations of Brazilian exports were China (16.8%), the United States (11.1%), Argentina (7.5%), the Netherlands (3.2%) and Mexico (2.8%). On the other hand, imports came mostly from China (18.7%), the United States (14.2%), Germany (8.1%), South Korea (3.9%) and Japan (3.8%).
