Petrobras’ average pre-salt output in May accounted for 22% of the total amount of oil produced by the company in Brazil. From 2010 to 2014, average daily production in the pre-salt reservoirs grew 10-fold, from 41,000 to 520,000 bpd. Of the 25 wells operating in this province, 10 are located in Santos Basin, which accounts for 53% of pre-salt output (274,000 bpd). The remaining 15 wells are located in Campos Basin, accounting for the remaining 47% (246,000 bpd).

Accumulated output in the pre-salt province now stands at over 360 million barrels of oil equivalent. Nine platforms are now operating in this province, four of which are producing exclusively from the pre-salt layer. These four platforms are the FPSO Cidade de Angra dos Reis (producing since October 2010 in Lula field, Santos Basin), FPSO Cidade de Anchieta (operating since September 2012 in Baleia Azul field, Campos Basin), FPSO Cidade de São Paulo (operating since January 2013 in Sapinhoá field, Santos Basin), and FPSO Cidade de Paraty (producing since June 2013 in the Lula Northeast area, also in Santos Basin).

Another four platforms had already been in place for some years in Campos Basin for post-salt oil production, and since they had available capacity, they made it possible to quickly interconnect a number of wells drilled at deeper horizons, in the pre-salt layer. These four platforms are P-48, in Barracuda-Caratinga field, P-53 and FPSO Cidade de Niterói, both in Marlim Leste field, and FPSO Capixaba, in Baleia Franca field. Finally, another platform that has contributed to Petrobras’ record output is P-58, which came on line in March of this year in the pre-salt layer in the Parque das Baleias complex, in the Espírito Santo part of Campos Basin.

Additionally, a roving system began operating on June 21 in Iara, through the FPSO Dynamic Producer, carrying out an Extended Well Test aiming at investigating pre-salt reservoirs in this area.
