Green Hydrogen
T&B Petroleum/Press Office MME
Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) will start the study to elaborate the guidelines of the National Hydrogen Program. The determination is made by the National Energy Policy Council (CNPE), in accordance with resolution 6, of April 20, 2021, published this Monday (5/17).
The study should be carried out within 60 days, together with the ministries of Science, Technology and Innovations (MCTI) and Regional Development (MDR), and technical support from the Energy Research Company (EPE).
The guidelines, as determined by the CNPE, must take into account the development of the hydrogen market in Brazil and inclusion as one of the priority themes for investments in research and innovation, according to CNPE Resolution No. 2, of February 10, 2021.
The potential of hydrogen must be considered, which combined with other solutions becomes a relevant energy vector for a low carbon matrix. Likewise, apprehend the interest in international cooperation for technological and market development for the production and energy use of hydrogen.
The resolution also points out other issues to be considered: the diversity of energy sources available in the country for the production of hydrogen; the technologies associated with this energy vector already developed and under development in the country; the diversity of hydrogen applications in the economy; the potential for domestic demand and for hydrogen exports in the context of energy transition; and Brazil's leadership in the “Energy Transition” theme in the United Nations High Level Dialogue on Energy.
