Solution will automate routines that handle data and will use Machine Learning technology
T&B Petroleum/Press OfficeRadix Engenharia & Software signed a BRL 10 million contract with ExxonMobil Brasil to research and develop advanced algorithms that improve visibility and efficiency during the drilling phases of well construction. The solution will utilize state-of-the-art information technology to allow engineers and drilling crews to share data and obtain the appropriate analytical information for quick and accurate decision making. The project is expected to last two years.
The solution aims to automate routines that handle data and will use Machine Learning technology, providing knowledge about improvements in efficiency during the drilling phases. Efficiency gains – for example, reducing equipment downtime – should allow for a substantial improvement in performance and reduce risks during the drilling operation.
ExxonMobil Brasil intends to execute the program and implement work on some offshore drilling assets through the resources provided for oil and gas exploration and production contracts regulated by the ANP (National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels). "We believe that, in the future, this will be reproduced throughout the oil industry", commented the General Manager of Upstream O&G International at Radix, Leo Vitor Learth.
"Radix will have a multidisciplinary team with knowledge in Petroleum Engineering and Information Technology from the beginning of the research to the testing and delivery of functionalities. We already have a successful relationship with ExxonMobil and now we are very motivated to start this new partnership in RD&I".
"This initiative is in line with ExxonMobil's culture of supporting science and technology. The project demonstrates the company's focus on promoting research through key partnerships", says ExxonMobil Brasil's Commercial Director, Marcio Bastos.
