"We have all the conditions to move the gravitational center of the world's industrial production to Brazil. Here we have numerous energy routes available that are not competing, on the contrary, complementary. No place in the world is so able to work with this, to do this the sustainable energy offer as our country has," said the president of the Sugarcane Industry Union (UNICA), Evandro Gussi (photo), during a seminar promoted by the Parliamentary Front for Renewable Energy (FER), on Wednesday. fair (18), in Brasília.

The event aimed to debate the potential for generating renewable electricity and the importance of biogas and biomethane for decarbonizing the energy matrix.

During the seminar, the President of FER, Deputy Danilo Forte, reinforced the importance of advances and modernization in regulation for the national energy sector and that he is preparing a New Legal Framework to concentrate the main demands of the sector in the National Congress. "We are going through an energy crisis and we need, as representatives of the legislative power, a clear proposal for regulation," said the congressman.

The president of the Parliamentary Front of the Sugar-Energy Sector, Deputy Arnaldo Jardim, highlighted the importance of the event in transforming biogas into an ever-growing reality and present in the national territory. "Biogas can contribute to the diversification of the matrix and to the sustainability of energy security", he reinforced.

According to the president of the Brazilian Association of Biogas (Abiogás), Alessandro Gardemann, the initiative highlights a decarbonised, competitive vision of the future, taking advantage of the efficiency and potential that agribusiness has. "Brazil has done an enormous job in creating a renewable energy matrix and the time has come for dispatchable renewable sources. We are absolutely certain that biogas is part of that solution," he said.

For the executive director of the Energy Cogeneration Industry Association (Cogen), Newton Duarte, biogas should become another important element for the sugar-energy sector. "Needless to say, the importance of renewable energies. We are privileged, whether energetically or electrically, and biogas will make a very important additional contribution. In addition to sugar, ethanol and bioelectricity, biogas will become a key element for the sugar and ethanol sector , this industry so important.

The seminar was held with the support of UNICA, Abiogás and Cogen, and also included the participation of the president of the Parliamentary Front for Agropecuária, deputy Sergio Souza; the president of Instituto Pensar Agro (IPA), Nilson Leitão; the president of the Parliamentary Front for Bioeconomy, deputy Paulo Ganime; the general director of Aneel, André Pepitone; the president of the Energy Research Company (EPE), Thiago Barral; the Secretary of Energy Policy of the Ministry of Mines and Energy, Paulo Cesar Domingues; the Secretary for Environmental Quality of the Ministry of the Environment, André França; the general coordinator of ethanol at the MME, Marlon Arraes; Margarete Gandini, General Coordinator for Inspection of Automotive Regimes at the Ministry of Economy, and Gustavo Goretti, General Coordinator for Adding Value at the Ministry of Agriculture.
