Satcom Global, a leading maritime satellite communications provider, and Intellian, a global leader in satellite antenna development and manufacture, have signed a strategic partnership agreement covering the global supply and distribution of maritime satellite equipment.

Under the partnership, Satcom Global will have access to Intellian’s full range of Ku-Band, Ka-Band and FleetBroadband hardware, supporting the delivery of its portfolio of VSAT and L-Band services to maritime customers across the globe.

Ian Robinson, CEO at Satcom Global said, “Intellian is exactly the kind of committed partner we want on our team to help penetrate deeper into the maritime market with a truly world class managed connectivity solution. Our new partner is a forward thinking company whose investments in R&D continue to deliver outstanding performance, reliability and innovation. With a global presence, robust training and support capabilities, and an industry leading warranty, we are confident of providing a timely and highly efficient service to our customers from a hardware perspective.”

Satcom Global will have access to Intellian’s full range of maritime satellite antennas suitable for operation on satcom services including VSAT, Inmarsat Global Xpress, FleetBroadband and Television Receive Only antenna systems. The company will also benefit from Intellian’s three strategic service and logistics hubs located in South Korea for the Asia Pacific region; Rotterdam for customers in Europe; and Irvine to provide logistics and service support in the Americas.

Dedicated stocks will be held in these three Intellian facilities, guaranteeing Satcom Global clients quick access to hardware as necessary and enabling the company to provide a fast and seamless global distribution service to meet deadlines and installation requirements.

Jon Harrison, VP of Global VSAT Sales at Intellian said, “Satcom Global has successfully served the maritime market with value-added satellite voice and data solutions for over 20 years now and the company is an ideal partner to take our leading hardware to market. Their multi-skilled in-house engineering team have been fully accredited to install and support our terminals following training at our Rotterdam and Seoul facilities, so we know the users of the terminals are in expert hands.”

The Intellian v100 and v100GX antennas will enable Satcom Global to deliver an ‘always on’ high bandwidth VSAT service to customers. Enabling a range of bandwidth hungry services, vessels will be able to operate as a true ‘office at sea’ whilst also keeping crews happy with sustained access to life online and onshore. Guaranteed data speeds also allow the use of applications such as video conferencing, e-learning and training as well telemedicine.

Satcom Global is one of the largest providers of satellite communications to shipping customers around the world, working in direct partnership with major maritime satellite service providers such as Inmarsat. A key focus on providing innovative and differentiated services is realised through in-house development of solutions for data optimisation, management and control, service provisioning and crew calling.
