Last Friday (16th), Petrobras signed a contract for the acquisition of subsea equipment for the Roncador field in the Campos Basin. The contract is expected to generate approximately 500 direct and indirect jobs.

The agreement with the SLB OneSubsea group includes the supply of 2 Subsea Production Manifolds (SPM), 1 Electro-Hydraulic Distribution Unit (EHDU), and spare parts. The service provision includes installation, commissioning, intervention, maintenance, and preservation of the equipment.

The contract sets a minimum requirement of 40% local content for goods and services demands. However, it is expected to reach a percentage of 65%, contributing to the strengthening of the national economy.

The manufacturing of the SPM and EHDU will take place at SLB OneSubsea facilities in Taubaté (SP) and Curitiba (PR), with the production process scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2025. The service demands will be met by factories in Macaé (RJ) and Rio das Ostras (RJ).

These subsea equipment components are essential for offshore oil and gas production projects. The Subsea Production Manifold (SPM) consolidates the production from two or more wells before directing it to the Floating Production Storage and Offloading Unit (FPSO). The Electro-Hydraulic Distribution Units (EHDU) provide the necessary hydraulic fluid for connecting subsea umbilicals between the wells and the FPSO.

About the Roncador Field

The P-52 (Mod 1A), P-54 (Mod 2), P-55 (Mod 3), and P-62 (Mod 4) platforms produce oil and gas from the Roncador field, which is a strategic partnership with Equinor. Petrobras holds a 75% stake in the Roncador field, while Equinor holds 25%.

While the P-54 and P-62 are FPSO units (Floating Production Storage and Offloading), the P-52 and P-55 are SS-type stationary production units (semi-submersible stationary units), having been installed in the years 2007, 2007, 2013, and 2014, respectively. They are installed at water depths between 1400m and 1840m.
