Tracker maker Soltec has begun installation of its single-axis SF Utility tracking system at a 292 MW solar project in Brazil, according to a press release.

The company states that this is the second project of this type in Brazil, and that with this it has reached 450 MW of installed potential in the nation. To date no large utility-scale solar plants have been completed in Brazil, but in the past year construction has begun on a series of PV projects awarded in national electricity auctions, which total hundreds of megawatts.

“We are very proud of the progress that we have made in the Americas in nations like Brazil, Chile and the United States,” stated Soltec Latin America Director Fernando Sánchez. “With one of the first tracker factories in operation in the continent and having obtained FINAME certification from BNDES, we believe that our success, which positions as us leaders in solar tracking in Latin America, is a reward for the good work and service which we offer our clients.”

In total, Soltec has reached 1.4 GW in the Americas.
