The ceremony that marked the maiden voyage of the tanker Sea Dragon, Transpetro, a Petrobras subsidiary was held on Monday (14) at the Port of Suape in Ipojuca (Pernambuco State). At the same event, Dilma christened the tanker Henrique Dias, who entered the stage of completion.
The Sea Dragon is the seventh vessel Program Fleet Modernization and Expansion (Promef) to come into operation. The tanker was produced in the South Atlantic Shipyard and is the third in a series of ten Suezmax ships (with dimensions that allow cross the Suez Canal in Egypt) ordered by Transpetro.
With 274.4 meters (m) in length, 48m in width and carrying capacity of 1 billion barrels of oil per day, the Sea Dragon will exit Port of Suape bound to the Campos Basin in Rio de Janeiro, where will be loaded with crude oil and proceed to the Waterway Terminal São Francisco do Sul (SC).
Currently, Promef has 12 ships under construction, four in finishing stage.
