President Michel Temer is embarking for an official trip to China on Tuesday (29) aimed at increasing exports and attracting more investments to Brazil. According to presidency spokesman Alexandre Parola, the visit is expected to lead to bilateral acts in areas such as infrastructure, health, culture and technology.

On 1 September, the president arrives at Beijing at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping. The official agenda begins at 3 PM with a session of the BRICS Summit in the city of Xiamen.

During the official visit, Temer will also meet personally with President Xi Jinping and Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang to discuss ways to foster development and job creation in Brazil. "President Temer is committed to strengthening this relationship," Parola explained.

The two Heads of State are likely to discuss major issues in the international agenda during their meeting. According to Parola, the two countries share priorities on a wide range of issues, such as the defence of multilateralism, resisting protectionism and the fight against global warming.

On 2 September, Temer will attend the Brazil-China Business Seminar. The event, organized by the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (APEX-Brasil), will bring together Chinese business leaders who already invest or are interest in investing in Brazil. The next day, the president travels to Xiamen, where he will represent Brazil during the 9th BRICS Summit.
