TGS, a global provider of energy data and intelligence, today announced that it has commenced acquisition on Santos multi-client 3D Phase 4 survey offshore Brazil.

The survey is located in the western portion of the Santos Basin and works as a northwest extension of the existing TGS Santos 3D, covering approximately 5,000 square kilometers. This modern, high-quality data coverage will further enhance geological understanding of the area and enable E&P companies to maximize the potential for deepwater discoveries in one of the world’s most prolific exploration basins.

This multi-client 3D survey is one of the latest of several 3D and 2D surveys completed in Brazil. TGS currently holds over 447,500 kilometers in 2D multi-client data and 69,500 square kilometers in 3D multi-client data in Brazil.

David Hajovsky, Executive Vice President of Western Hemisphere at TGS, commented, “We’re pleased to commence Phase 4 of this survey – further strengthening our data library and position in the Brazil Salt Basins. This data will contribute to our client’s efforts to further de-risk their investments in future bid rounds and partnership opportunities.”

Full volume fast track data will be available in March 2022 with final data expected in October 2022.
