Ocyan participates in the FPSO Brazil Congress 2019, which takes place today and tomorrow, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, and whose theme is "Overcoming Regulatory, Operational, Financing and Local Content Challenges". This is the second time the event takes place in Brazil. The projects of the company, FPSO Cidade de Itajaí and FPSO Pioneiro de Libra, both developed by the joint venture TK-Ocyan, formed by Ocyan and Teekay Offshore, will be presented, as well as offering new technological solutions for the sector.
"Last year, the market already showed the strength of our country in this segment so important for the oil and gas industry. For this reason, the FPSO Congress will have the second edition here in Brazil. As it is a world-class event, Ocyan's presence shows that our work is widely recognized in the industry, "says Ocyan's Director of Integrated Services, Jorge Mitidieri. As in 2018, the executive will be chairman of the event.
Tomorrow, Bruno Pinaffi, TK-Ocyan's QHSE manager, will participate in the "Enhancing FPSO Operations and Uptime Through Robust Health and Safety Measures" panel. Bruno will address issues of human factors and safety culture and the impacts associated with operations in an FPSO. "TK-Ocyan has two FPSOs, both with excellent operational and safety results. We seek to continue to operate these two assets with excellence and strengthen our ability to operate in the industry, "he says.
On the same day, Rafael Guigon, Ocyan's Underwater Installation Engineering Manager, participates in the panel "Managing Costs and Reducing Weight to FPSOs through a Sustainable Subsea Installation System". Guigon will talk about cost management and weight reduction proposals for FPSOs. "We have CompRiser, an innovative, end-to-end integrated solution - from manufacturing to offshore installation, which we are developing in partnership with Magma and Brasfels shipyard. The system is geared towards the Brazilian maritime environment, in addition to reducing risks, by reducing the weight of components. Another advantage is in relation to suppliers, since the manufacturing of a large part of the components will take place here in Brazil ", emphasizes the manager.
Ocyan booth in Congress
Ocyan will be present at the Congress with its own stand in the exhibition hall, where it will present its projects. The site will also feature the FPSO Pioneer's Libra mockup. "The intention of the booth is to share the challenges of our projects and the best technological solutions that we find for each of them," concludes Superintendent Jorge Mitidieri.
FPSO Congress Brasil
The event will be held in the country for the second time, driven by the growth in demand for platform vessels for production in the Brazilian pre-salt. The congress will bring together industry leaders to share lessons learned in their own FPSO projects, foster meaningful connections between the community and, above all, develop business plans beyond 2019.
The potential of the Brazilian FPSO market is evident by the presence of the main players in the sector at the event, including boat design companies, project execution, technology development, financing, asset integrity, repairs, deactivation, supply chain requirements and regulation .
