Petrobras transfers its subsidiary to Transpetro, which will now manage integrated logistics services and emergency response for oil and petroleum products exploration and production operations.
T&B Petroleum/Petrobras Agency
Transpetro has taken another step toward expanding its role in oil and petroleum products logistics by incorporating Petrobras Logística de Exploração & Produção S.A. (PB-LOG) into its structure. With this change, Transpetro will also operate in marine support and emergency response in areas explored by consortia that are operated and led by Petrobras.
PB-LOG, previously a wholly owned subsidiary of Petrobras, is now part of Transpetro’s management structure. The change was approved by all necessary governance bodies. This is a transaction between wholly owned subsidiaries, resulting in a capital increase for Transpetro without the need to issue new shares.
“This change is aligned with the main goal of our administration: expanding Transpetro’s activities to strengthen the company as a profitable state-owned enterprise capable of offering increasingly integrated, multimodal logistics services to our clients. The incorporation of PB-LOG complements our investments in pipelines and terminals, fleet expansion, and entry into new modes such as barges. Without a doubt, Transpetro is on the right track to win more and more clients,” said Transpetro’s CEO, Sérgio Bacci.
As a result of this strategic move, Transpetro is expanding its presence in the oil exploration segment, leveraging synergies with PB-LOG to deliver integrated logistics services.
Since the beginning of the current administration, Transpetro’s business growth strategy has been supported by new investments. The company has increased the operational capacity of its terminals, invested in pipeline modernization to enhance transportation availability, expanded its own fleet, and made new hires to enter new markets.
Since last year, Transpetro has launched tenders to contract 16 vessels (four handy-size vessels, eight gas carriers, and four MR1 tankers), which will expand petroleum product transportation capacity along the Brazilian coast. Additionally, it recently entered the market to contract 18 barges and 18 push boats to grow its inland waterway operations. The company will also increase offloading capacity on Petrobras-operated platforms through the contracting of nine dynamically positioned shuttle tankers.

Currently, PB-LOG concentrates its operations in the Southeast region, near the major producing basins of Santos and Campos. In 2024, the company reported a net profit of R$ 533 million from providing services to 21 consortia involving 12 companies.
