At the invitation of the United Nations (UN), the National Industrial Apprenticeship Service (SENAI) will participate, between October 31 and November 3, a discussion forum on best practices for cooperation among countries. The Global Exhibition event for South-South Development, organized by the UN in Dubai, will be on "South-South Cooperation: towards innovation, a strategy for Agenda 2030 Sustainable Development." In the debate effective solutions to institutions will be presented contributing to the achievement of the UN Sustainable development Goals. the exhibition will bring together policy makers, global leaders, institutions of the UN system (including ILO and UNIDO), funding and implementing cooperation projects, developing countries (especially Africa, Latin America and Asia) and similar institutions to SENAI.

The invitation to the event reinforces the recognition of SENAI by the UN as one of the three most important players in the area of education of the southern hemisphere, according to the international relations manager Senai, Frederico Lamego. He points out that the UN identifies the SENAI as an institution that stands for comprehensive action. "The development projects, which are not restricted to Portuguese-speaking countries, shows the capacity that we have to take professional education for different cultures, such as the work in countries such as Jamaica and Paraguay." SENAI already has a partnership with the United Arab Emirates to support the training of competitors in that country and in the organization of WorldSkills Competition 2017 will be in the capital, Abu Dhabi.

The Vocational training centers of Senai have been established in Guatemala, Peru, Guinea Bissau, Paraguay, Cape Verde, Jamaica, Sao Tome and Principe, Angola and East Timor. The institution also has partnerships with 53 international institutions like the British Council, the UK, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the United States, the Swedish ICT, Sweden, the German Fraunhofer Institute, among others. Each year, SENAI attracts more than 3 million students from developing countries, especially African Portuguese-speaking countries.

To form labor outside Brazil, SENAI is seeking new opportunities for attracting international resources. "This event in Dubai will be an opportunity to be in contact with new funding, foreign aid agencies and UN agencies to identify initiatives that are in line with the interests of Brazilian industries and sustainable development goals. The economic development of any nation goes through qualification of the workforce, "said Lamego.
