BNamericasBrazil's federal energy planning company EPE has registered 1,034 projects totaling 26.3GW for October's reserve energy auction.
Wind power leads the bid-round catalog with 626 proposals, followed by solar plants with 400, EPE said in a statement on Tuesday.
Eight biogas-fired thermoelectric plants have also been included in the auction.
According to EPE president Maurício Tolmasquim, an exclusive solar category has boosted interest from photovoltaic developers.
"Solar projects total 10GW of installed capacity, which is practically the size of [the] Belo Monte [hydroelectric plant], Tolmasquim said.
The October 31 auction stipulates that projects be ready for commercial generation by 2017.
Brazil's reserve energy auctions are designed to guarantee supply by providing supplementary energy to the country's grid.
