The National Biofuels Policy, called RenovaBio, reached, at the end of yesterday (9/30), the mark of 10 million decarbonization credits (CBIOs) validated on the CBIO Platform.

This mark represents 67% of the total of 14.9 million CBIOs established as a target for the years 2019 and 2020 by Resolutions nº 15/2019 and nº 8/2020 of the National Council for Energy Policy (CNPE).

The CBIO market has registered significant positive changes as RenovaBio progresses. The month of September registered the record of CBIOs validated on the Platform (2.2 million), increasing the average of CBIOs generated in the last three months to 2 million / month. With this growth trend, it is expected that there will be enough CBIOs to reach the target for 2019 and 2020 by the beginning of December.

The title's first retirement operations took place in August and September, with 103,700 retirees by obligated party. The retirement of a CBIO occurs when its holder permanently withdraws it from the market, preventing any future trading. Fossil fuel distributors (gasoline and diesel) are the parties required to meet individual targets at RenovaBio. The achievement of their goals is due to the number of CBIOs they retire. It should be noted that the average value of CBIO traded at B3 ranged from R $ 20 to R $ 37.35 in September.

RenovaBio is the national policy instituted with the main objective of stimulating the production and consumption of biofuels in Brazil, based on predictability, environmental, economic and social sustainability, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the fuel matrix.

The ANP is one of the bodies that participate in RenovaBio, in line with its commitment to decarbonisation and the contribution for Brazil to comply with the Paris Protocol agreements.
