Yesterday (3/9), biologist Amanda Borges, a consultant in the area of Social Responsibility at Petrobras, presented some results achieved by the Petrobras Socioenvironmental Program in the preservation of biomes during the Ethos 360º Conference. One of the highlights was the mobilization of 9.7 thousand people and the recovery or conservation of more than 100 thousand hectares of areas in five biomes, with the production of another 1.5 million seedlings in 2019. The panel “Science and environmental education - vectors to reduce the threat to Brazilian biomes ”, inserted in the theme“ Brazil and the ambitions of science, technology and innovation ”.
Also participating were veterinarian Gabriela Moreira, general coordinator of the Guapiaçu project, sponsored by Petrobras, and biologist Claudio Pádua, dean of the Superior School of Environmental Conservation and Sustainability and vice president of the Ecological Research Institute.
Amanda Borges highlighted the importance of the company's voluntary investments in the Climate action line, which includes initiatives aimed at the conservation and recovery of forests and natural areas with the protection of biodiversity with a focus on removing and maintaining carbon stocks and adapting to changing the environment. generating environmental and social benefits and encouraging environmental education.
Gabriela Moreira highlighted the experience of the Guapiaçu project in environmental education with children and young people and the recovery actions that enabled the conservation of 160 hectares of Atlantic Forest in the state of Rio de Janeiro.
In its 23rd edition, the Ethos 360º Conference, an initiative sponsored by Petrobras, has been consolidating itself as the largest event on policies and actions for sustainable development, attracting leaders and companies from all over Brazil and South America.
