In 2020, despite the challenges brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic, the ANP inspected the 123,000 economic agents that make up the fuel market intensively. The result was that 15,106 inspection actions were carried out across the country, with the issuing of 2,434 infraction notices, 588 interdiction notices and 118 notices of seizure of goods and products.

The main infraction facts identified were the failure to comply with the notification to meet any requirement of the Agency, followed by the sale of products outside the quality specifications and equipment that were absent or not in accordance with the law. These data are detailed in the Bulletin of Inspection of Supply in News - Annual Balance 2020, published today (01/03) on the ANP portal.

In the Bulletin, it is possible to verify the distribution of inspection actions by geographic region and by federation unit, the number of infractions, interdictions and seizures, in addition to the main infractions identified.

Of the 15,106 inspection actions carried out in 2020, 7,479 were in the Southeast Region, which concentrates the largest number of economic agents in the fuel market. In the Northeast Region, there were 2,592; in the South Region, 2,459; in the Central-West Region, 1,532, and in the North, 1,044.

Another relevant fact was a 47% reduction in the number of complaints received by the ANP Ombudsman compared to those registered in 2019 (26,280 complaints). The drop in the total number of complaints may be associated with a decrease in fuel consumption, a reduction in the flow of people and vehicles on the streets during the pandemic and the perception of more regular consumers in the market.
