Bahia Oil & Gas Energy, held from May 27 to 29 at the Salvador Convention Center (BA), set an important milestone for the sector by surpassing 13,000 registrants for the second consecutive year, consolidating its position as the leading meeting point for the oil and gas industry in Brazil’s North and Northeast regions. Over three days of diverse activities, the event brought together company representatives, specialists, investors, researchers, students, and public authorities to discuss the sector’s challenges and opportunities in a context of profound global transformation.

The event welcomed participants from every state in Brazil and from 21 countries, including 4 international delegations. There were 16 activities, 308 speakers across 39 panels, 8 training courses, and 245 brands in the business fair, occupying two entire pavilions of the Convention Center.

International geopolitical dynamics, impacts on exploration and production investments, energy integration, technological innovation, sustainability, and the expansion of natural gas infrastructure were among the topics discussed throughout the event. The plenary sessions dedicated to the oil and gas segments, together with the thematic arenas, promoted strategic reflections on the present and future of the energy sector in the country.

The program also included the Business Roundtable, which fostered commercial connections between 17 buying companies and 137 suppliers, both domestic and international, strengthening the production chain and expanding opportunities for new investments. In total, 592 meetings were held.

A new feature of this edition was the training courses, which attracted students and professionals interested in expanding their knowledge and qualifications to work in the market.

Awards

The Academic Congress and the Technical Section reaffirmed the event’s intention to stimulate knowledge production through scientific and technological exchange. The winner of the Academic Congress, announced at the event’s opening, will have airfare and accommodation expenses covered to attend the 23rd Colombian Oil and Gas Congress in Bucaramanga, Colombia, in September. The winning paper was “From Oil Wells to CO₂ Storage: Evaluation of Legacy Data Aimed at CO₂ Injection in the Araçás and Fazenda Boa Esperança Fields – Recôncavo Basin,” authored by Ana Clara Silva Castro of the Federal University of Ceará.

The ESG, Innovation, and Commercial arenas brought diversity, technical knowledge, and business opportunities to an event that is already part of the industry calendar. In addition, the “Talents of the Future” program brought students closer to the job market, contributing to the development of new generations of professionals.

Another activity that has already become a trademark of the event was the technical visits, with registrants able to choose from seven routes in the areas of Geology, E&P, Refining, Gas, Petrochemicals, Port Operations, and R&D to gain a closer look at local operations.

Business Prospecting

Exhibitors highly praised the level of the event. This was the case for Gelsio Quiroga, South America representative of the Argentine company Micromoles, which produces microencapsulated chemicals for application in oil fields. “The audience visiting our booth is highly qualified, and that is very interesting, because we are making several contacts for future partnerships.”

Another satisfied participant was Ivanaldo Nannetti, an oil and gas applications engineer based in Mossoró (RN), representing Netzsch, a company responsible for artificial lift equipment for oil wells. “This is one of the best editions I have ever attended. We had the opportunity to showcase our equipment to several companies and begin negotiations toward closing deals.”

Investment Attraction

Over the course of the three days, the event reinforced the importance of Brazil’s North and Northeast regions to the national oil and gas industry, highlighting these regions’ potential for growth, job creation, technological development, and investment attraction.

The success of the 2026 edition already sets the stage for next year’s event, which will be held from June 2 to 4, 2027, once again in Salvador, bringing together the main players in the industry to discuss trends, promote business, and drive the country’s energy development.

The event was sponsored by Petrobras, Banco do Nordeste, Transpetro, PetroReconcavo, Senai-Cimatec, Brava, Bahiagás, and Acelen, among other companies.
