Produção brasileira de aço bruto apresenta alta de 1,2% em fevereiro
Brazilian crude steel production in February 2014 was 2.6 million tons, up 1.2% compared with the same month in 2013. For rolled, February production of 2.0 million tons, increased by 2.0% compared with February last year. With these results, the combined production in 2014 totaled 5.3 million tonnes of crude steel and 4.0 million tons of rolled products, down 0.1% and up 1.3% respectively over the same period 2013.
On domestic sales, the result of February 2014 was 1.8 million tonnes of goods, up 7.6%% compared to February 2013. Cumulative sales in 2014 of 3.6 million tonnes, showed growth of 3.4% over the same period last year.
Exports of steel products in February 2014 reached 628,000 metric tons valued at 416 million dollars. With this result, exports in 2014 totaled 1.4 million tons and 1.0 billion dollars, representing a decline of 18.1% in volume and 5.0% in value compared to the same period last year.With regard to imports, was recorded in February the volume of 250 thousand tons ($ 279 million) totaling thus, 561,000 tons of steel products imported in the year, down 2.1% over the same period of 2013.

The national apparent consumption of steel products in February was 2.0 million tons, totaling 4.1 million tons in 2014. These figures represented a 4.8% and 3.2%, respectively, compared to the same periods last year.
