The pace of growth in brazilian economic activity declined in February. The Index of Economic Activity of Brazilian Central Bank (IBC-Br) seasonally adjusted (adjusted for the period) grew by 0.24% in February, compared with the previous month. In January compared with December, the growth was 2.35%, according to revised data released today (16).
In comparison with February 2013, the growth was 4.04%, according to unadjusted data, since the comparison is between the same periods. In the 12 months ending in February, the expansion was at 2.57%. In the first quarter, the growth was 2.46%.
The IBC-Br is a way to assess the evolution of the brazilian economy. The index incorporates information on the level of activity of the three economic sectors: industry, trade, services and agriculture.
