ANP starts today (5/10) a prior consultation, for 45 days, on the "Conceptual Model of the Gas Market in the Union's Competence Sphere" ("Modelo Conceitual do Mercado de Gás na Esfera de Competência da União"). The document presents a proposal for the structuring of the gas market with emphasis on the revision of the regulations that deal with the activities of commercialization and loading of natural gas, Resolutions ANP nos 52/2011 and 51/2013, respectively.

The conceptual model proposed by the ANP aims at structuring a Brazilian market for single, liquid, transparent natural gas with free access to its participants. For this purpose, the document provides for the establishment of capacity market areas, with the hiring by the entry and exit regime and the commercialization of gas through standardized contracts in a virtual negotiation point.

The prior consultation of the model aims to collect subsidies from market participants and the general public on the organization and functioning of the natural gas market, in addition to dealing with authorization for the exercise of activities, such as obligations and responsibilities of agents and requirements for the obtaining and maintaining the authorizations granted.
