Constellation Oil Services announced on Monday, December 16, a new contract with Petrobras for the charter of the Amaralina Star drillship, which will be used for operations along the entire Brazilian coastline, including remote exploratory frontier areas, such as the Equatorial Margin and Pelotas Basin.

The value of the agreement is approximately $528 million, including a mobilization fee of $38.6 million and additional integrated services requested by Petrobras. The Amaralina Star will operate under this new contract for a period of three years, starting in the first quarter of 2026, with an option for an extension of up to 315 days, subject to mutual agreement.

“This new contract not only strengthens our solid and successful long-term partnership with Petrobras but also marks a special year for Constellation, being the fourth one secured in 2024. We will once again have the privilege of providing our services to Petrobras in their exploratory frontier projects, which for us is a recognition of the excellence of our teams' work,” said Rodrigo Ribeiro, CEO of Constellation.

The unit is currently operating for Petrobras in the Roncador field and will complete its contract in the second half of 2025. It will then undergo preparations for the new contract, including adjustments, hull cleaning, and class inspections of the vessel.

The Amaralina Star is a 6th-generation dynamic positioning drillship, designed to operate in water depths of up to 10,000 feet and drill to depths of up to 40,000 feet.
