Once completed, Delfina will have an installed capacity of 180 MW and will be able to generate more than 800 GWh per year

EGP will be investing approximately 400 million US dollars in the construction of the new wind farm

Enel Green Power (“EGP”) has started building its Delfina wind farm in Brazil’s north-eastern state of Bahia.

The new facility is owned by five special purpose vehicles held by Enel Green Power Brasil Participações Ltda., will have a total installed capacity of 180 MW and will be completed and enter into service in the first half of 2017. Once completed, Delfina will be able to generate more than 800 GWh per year, enough to meet the annual energy consumption needs of 390,000 Brazilian households while avoiding the emission of more than 270,000 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere.

EGP will be investing approximately 400 million US dollars in the construction of the wind farm, which comes as part of the investments outlined in the company’s current business plan. The project will be financed through the Enel Green Power Group’s own sources and supported by long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs).

EGP currently has a total installed capacity of 418 MW in Brazil, of which 93 MW comes from hydro, 313 MW from wind and 12 MW from solar. The company also has 444 MW of projects currently under construction, including the 254 MW Ituverava solar power plant, the largest of this kind that EGP currently has under construction. Following its winning of 553 MW of solar capacity in August, the company is now the leading solar power player in Brazil in terms of both installed capacity and project portfolio size. EGP was also recently awarded a concession for two already operating hydro facilities, which have a combined installed capacity of 40 MW.

Enel Green Power is the Enel Group company fully dedicated to the international development and management of renewable energy sources, with operations in Europe, the Americas, Africa and Asia. With a generation capacity that corresponds to approximately 32 billion kWh in 2014 from water, sun, wind and the Earth’s heat – enough to meet the energy needs of more than 11 million households – Enel Green Power is a world leader in the sector thanks to its well-balanced generation mix that provides generation volumes well over the sector average. The company has an installed capacity of more than 10,000 MW from a mix of sources including wind, solar, hydropower, geothermal and biomass. The company has about 740 plants operating in 16 countries.

In Latin America, Enel Green Power runs renewable energy plants in Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama and Uruguay that have a total installed capacity of approximately 2,100 MW.
