The bulletin of the Monthly Operation Program (PMO) of the National Electric System Operator (ONS) points out, for the week of January 16 to 22, energy consumption 3.1% higher in the National Interconnected System (SIN), in comparison with January 2020. The forecast is that the load will reach 72,883 average MW. The North stands out from the other subsystems and should expand by 4.4%, with an average of 5,721 MW. In the sequence, comes the Southeast / Midwest region with an increase of 3.7% and 42,323 average MW and the Northeast with an increase of 3.2% and 11,812 average MW. After three consecutive weeks recording negative percentages, the South reverses the trend and registers a 0.8% increase in load with 13,027 average MW.

The consolidated electricity consumption forecasts for the month of January took into account the maintenance of the high pace of production in the industry that has been observed in recent months.

For the next period, according to the weather forecasts, high average temperatures are expected, similar to what was observed in the current week, in the capitals of the Southeast / Midwest subsystem. In the South, there is an expectation of a mild decline in thermometers in the city of Porto Alegre and the maintenance of temperatures in Curitiba and Florianópolis. For the Northeast and North regions, the expectation is for higher heat, a behavior similar to that observed in recent weeks.

In relation to affluences, in comparison with the values estimated for this week, it is expected for the next rise in all subsystems. For the South subsystem, the signaling is 105% of the MLT. Then comes the Southeast / Midwest with a projection of 78% of the MLT; North with 68% of the MLT and the Northeast with 49% of the MLT. The document also predicts that reservoir volumes, by the end of January, should reach 51.8% in the Northeast; 31.5% in the North; 25.9% in the Southeast / Midwest and 19.7% in the South.

The bulletin also indicates a 38.16% drop in the Marginal Operating Cost (CMO) in all regions of the country, after three weeks of growth, remaining similar. Southeast / Midwest, South, Northeast and North leave the level of R $ 361.74 / MWh, in the previous period, to R $ 223.70 / MWh.
