The ANP released today (12/1) the Monthly Bulletin of Oil and Natural Gas Production for October 2023, which presents consolidated data on national production. The total production (oil + natural gas) reached 4.502 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (MMboe/d).

Regarding oil, 3.543 million barrels per day (MMbbl/d) were extracted, reflecting a 3.5% decrease compared to the previous month and a 9.2% increase compared to October 2022.

The natural gas production in October was 152.51 million cubic meters per day (MMm³/d). There was a 3.5% decrease compared to September 2023 and a 2.5% increase compared to October 2022.

Pre-salt

The total production (oil + natural gas) in the pre-salt region in October was 3.441 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d), accounting for 76.4% of Brazilian production. This represents a 4.3% reduction compared to the previous month and a 9.5% increase compared to October 2022. A total of 2.722 million barrels per day (bbl/d) of oil and 114.23 million cubic meters per day (m³/d) of natural gas were produced through 148 wells.

Natural Gas Utilization

In October, the utilization of natural gas was 97.6%. A total of 49.35 million cubic meters per day (m³/d) were made available to the market, with a burning rate of 3.73 million cubic meters per day (m³/d). There was an 11.8% increase in burning compared to the previous month and a 28.4% increase compared to October 2022.

Production Origin

In October, offshore fields produced 97.6% of oil and 86.2% of natural gas. Fields operated by Petrobras, either alone or in consortium with other companies, accounted for 89.28% of the total production. Production originated from 6,421 wells, including 515 offshore and 5,906 onshore.

Fields and Installations

In October, the Tupi field in the pre-salt region of the Santos Basin was the largest producer of oil and gas, recording 831.08 thousand bbl/d of oil and 40.54 million m³/d of natural gas. The installation with the highest production of oil and natural gas was the FPSO Guanabara in the shared Mero field, with 179.752 thousand bbl/d of oil and 11.56 million m³/d of gas.

About the Oil and Gas Production Bulletin

In addition to the traditional .pdf publication, it is possible to interactively access the bulletin's data using Business Intelligence (BI) technology. The tool allows users to change the reference month for information, as well as select different periods for consultation and apply specific filters for fields, states, and basins.

Variations in production are expected and may occur due to factors such as scheduled maintenance shutdowns of production units, well startups, well shutdowns for maintenance or cleaning, commissioning of new production units, among others. Such actions are typical in oil and natural gas production and aim for stable and continuous operation, as well as an increase in production over time.
