In the Santos Basin pre-salt, Búzios field produced 709,697 Mboe/d (one thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day) in September, with 566,196 Mbbl/d (thousand daily) of oil and 22,815 MMm3 (million meters). cubic meters) of natural gas. As of this month, the field's production began to be assigned to two separate contracts, one for transfer of rights and the other for sharing, arising from the first Bidding Round of Surplus Volumes of the Transfer of Rights, held in 2019.

The corresponding installments were defined in the Búzios Co-participation Agreement (ACP de Búzios), approved by the ANP in August. The percentage allocated to the Transfer of Rights contract is 26.1205% and for the Production Sharing contract is 73.8795%. The Búzios ACP guarantees legal certainty for this type of contract, in addition to generating an increase in the collection of royalties for the Union, Brazilian states and municipalities, as well as the receipt of a percentage of production by the Union.

In November 2019, in the first Round of Surplus Volumes of the Transfer of Rights, the consortium formed by Petrobras (operator), CNODC Brasil Petróleo e Gás Ltda. and CNOOC Petroleum Brasil Ltda acquired the right to explore and produce the volume in excess of the Búzios field's Transfer of Rights Agreement, under the sharing regime. In the second auction, scheduled for December 17, the excess volumes from the Sepia and Atapu areas will be auctioned.

National Production 

The domestic production of oil and natural gas in September totaled 3,840 MMboe/d, being 3,001 MMbbl/d of oil and 133 MMm3/d of natural gas. There was a 0.1% increase in oil production compared to the previous month and 3.2% compared to September 2020. In natural gas there was a 2.4% reduction compared to the previous month and an increase in 6.5% compared to September 2020.

Pre-salt 

Pre-salt production in September totaled 2,845 MMboe/d (million barrels of oil equivalent), of which 2,255 MMbbl/d (million barrels per day) were oil and 93.8 MMm³/d (million cubic meters daily) of natural gas. It was the biggest historical record of monthly production in the Pre-salt, both in absolute terms and as a percentage of participation in the country's total production.

There was an increase of 2.9% compared to the previous month and 10% compared to the same month in 2020. Pre-salt production originated in 130 wells and corresponded to 74.1% of the total produced in Brazil.

Use of natural gas 

In September, the use of natural gas was 97%. 48.8 MMm³/day were made available to the market. Gas flaring in the month was 3.9 MMm³/d, an increase of 28.4% compared to the previous month and 14.6% compared to the same month in 2020.

Origin of production 

This September, the offshore fields produced 97.2% of oil and 81.7% of natural gas. The fields operated by Petrobras were responsible for 92.6% of the oil and natural gas produced in Brazil.

Highlights 

In September, the Tupi field, in the Santos Basin pre-salt, was the largest producer of oil and natural gas, recording 948 Mbbl/d of oil and 43.1 MMm3/d of natural gas.

The Petrobras 75 platform, producing in the Búzios field through four wells connected to it, was the installation with the highest oil production, with 166.771 bbl/d.

The installation FPSO Cidade de Itaguaí, producing in the Tupi field, through 7 wells connected to it, was the installation with the highest production of natural gas, producing 6,678 MMm³/d.

Estreito, in the Potiguar Basin, had the highest number of onshore producing wells: 984.

Tupi, in the Santos Basin, was the offshore field with the highest number of producing wells: 62.

Marginal accumulations fields 

These fields produced 322.3 boe/d, 85 bbl/d of oil and 37.7 Mm³/d of natural gas. The Iraí field, operated by Petroborn, was the largest producer, with 230.9 boe/d.

Other information

In September 2021, 258 concession areas, four for transfer of rights and five for sharing, operated by 37 companies, were responsible for national production. Of these, 57 are offshore and 210 on land, 11 of which are related to contracts for areas containing marginal accumulations. Production took place in 6,220 wells, 470 offshore and 5,750 onshore.

The average API degree of oil extracted in Brazil was 28.1, with 2.1% of the production considered as light oil (>=31°API), 88.1% medium oil (>=22 API and <31 API) and 9.8% heavy oil (<22 API).

The mature onshore basins (fields/long-term tests in the Espírito Santo, Potiguar, Recôncavo, Sergipe and Alagoas basins) produced 91.749 Mboe/d, with 71.4 thousand bbl/d of petroleum and 3.2 MMm³/d of natural gas. Of this total, 66,300 boe/d were produced by Petrobras and 25,400 boe/d were produced by concessions not operated by Petrobras, of which: 16,122 boe/d in Rio Grande do Norte, 8,397 boe/d in Bahia , 493 boe/d in Espírito Santo, 266 boe/d in Alagoas and 164 boe/d in Sergipe.
