T&B Petroleum/Petrobras Agency
From October 9 to 11, Petrobras participates in the HR.Hackathon, the largest in Latin America, which is part of Hacking.Rio's programming. The company will challenge participants in the marathon to propose innovative solutions related to its processes and business. Competitors must find technological solutions to the launched challenges, seeking the award in each cluster. This year, the event will be completely online, with participants from all regions of Brazil and the world.
"Innovation is in the DNA of Petrobras, which is recognized as one of the most innovative companies in the country, but we want to accelerate even more. To that end, we have developed an innovation ecosystem, which connects us with several strategic partners such as universities, companies and startups. bringing creative people together in models like Hackathon we want to think outside the box, provoke ourselves, generating new ideas and solutions to our challenges, with a focus on adding value ", says Nicolás Simone, director of Digital Transformation and Innovation at Petrobras.
Competition and sustainability
Sponsor of the event, Petrobras proposed a challenge to the participants - involving the topic of Digital Transformation for the Integral Health of Employees. The theme is inserted in the UN Sustainable Development Goals - as foreseen in the Hackaton regulation - "Health and well-being". Company employees will serve as mentors at the event with the aim of helping competitors to develop a Minimum Viable Product (MVP).
The challenges of Hacking Rio are detailed at the beginning of the competition and, from there, competitors have 48 hours to develop, individually or in groups, a technological solution for the chosen theme, in two levels: Standard, for beginners, and Master, for developers, programmers, designers, data scientists and other experts.
Each cluster offers an award, and the team that was considered the best of the event will win an extra prize, a trip to participate in the Web Summit Lisboa, one of the largest technology events in the world.
Hacking.Rio 2020 signed a partnership with the Institute for Conservation and Sustainable Development of the Amazon (IDESAM) and, through the Carbon Neutral program, all the CO2 that would be emitted in energy consumption in the production and holding of the event, will be compensated with planting trees in the Amazon.
Innovation fronts
Petrobras also supports inter-entrepreneurship, carrying out internal hackathons to develop solutions, and externally, with initiatives such as the Petrobras Connections for Innovation program, which selects startups and small entrepreneurial companies, through public notices with challenges associated with the oil area, gas and energy. The selection launched this year, in partnership with Sebrae, had more than 300 subscribers. By regulation, startups whose projects prove effective generation of value for Petrobras' business, may become suppliers to the company and the oil and gas market. The final stage of this selection and the announcement of the winners is scheduled for the end of the month.
