Representatives from all continents are in Bahia attending the International Brazil Energy Meeting (iBEM25), a free event held at the Convention Center that continues until Thursday (the 27th), starting at 10 am. The opening ceremony was attended by various authorities, including the State Secretary for Economic Development Ângello Almeida, CEO of the Global Wind Energy Council Ben Backwell, President of Bahiagás Luiz Gavazza, César Patiño (Chair of the International Energy Agency), Chief of Staff Tainá Barros representing Mayor Bruno Reis, among others.

The first speakers were the event organizers: Nicolás Honorato (director of Austral), Eduardo Aragon (CEO of BrainMarket), and Rafael Valverde (CEO of Eolus). Nicolás highlighted that Brazil is a rare example of energy integration and that the event's intention is to showcase this to the world. He also mentioned that researchers from several countries will present academic papers on the topic, with an official publication at the end of the event, a groundbreaking initiative in Bahia.

Eduardo Aragon reminded attendees that Brazil has the most diversified and renewable energy matrix in the world. “We will discuss all existing energy sources.”

Rafael Valverde said that the event bets on Bahia as a hub for discussions on energy policy. He noted that the state is at the forefront of this topic, citing the beginning of oil and gas exploration in Bahia, as well as the first wind energy projects in Caetité, among many others.

The program also featured the conference “For an Energy-Integrated Planet,” moderated by Erik Nickel (International Energy Agency), a discussion on ESG in energy generation, presentations of innovation and digital transformation programs in the energy sector, and a scientific congress with the presentation of academic papers.

iBEM25 continues this Wednesday (March 26) with an extensive and diversified program. Admission is free, and registration is being done exclusively at the entrance of the Convention Center.
