The Lula field, in the pre-salt of the Santos basin, achieved a feat that is not yet properly recognized internationally: it is today the seventh field with the largest oil production in the world, surpassing emblematic assets in the onshore and offshore of countries like Russia, United States and Iraq.

With a production that has been maintained between 950 thousand to 1 million barrels of oil per day (bbl / d), Lula has already surpassed the Samotlor field, in Russia, operated by TNK-BP, with a production of 850 thousand bbl / d. The Russian field, in production since 2000, occupied the seventh position in the ranking of Digital Energy, in March of that year (https://www.energydigital.com/utilities/top-10-oil-producing-fields-world).

Lula leaves yet another Russian field that was included in the ranking of the ten largest producers: that of Priobskoye, in Siberia, operated by Gazprom Neft and Rosneft Field, which produces around 700 thousand bbl / d. It also displaced Prudhoe Bay, in northern Alaska, operated by BP, ExxonMobil and ConocoPhillips, and which produces around 660,000 bbl / d.

The Brazilian production champion, one of the most important in the pre-salt, took the emblematic Majnoon field, in southern Iraq, near Basra, from the TOP 10 ranking, discovered in 1975 by Braspetro, Petrobras' international subsidiary. Operated today by Shell and Petronas, the field produces half the volume of our champion Lula - around 500 thousand bbl / d.

The figures show that Lula's field will continue to make history. In July, according to the bulletin of the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels - ANP (http://www.anp.gov.br/arquivos/publicacoes/boletins-anp/producao/2020-07-boletim.pdf),with 9.5 years of production it reached an accumulated total of 2.038 billion barrels of oil equivalent. Just behind the also emblematic Marlim field, in the Campos basin, it has an accumulated production of 2.827 billion boe since the first oil, in March 1991 - volume reached in almost 20 years.
