Following this trend of internationalization, umbilical manufacturer MFX do Brazil will be attending the OTC seeking business in the overseas market. According to Iwaldo Miranda, responsible for international sales and marketing, the company would like to manufacture umbilicals in the future for regions such as the North Sea, the Gulf of Mexico and Africa. 

This is the company’s second year in the Brazil Pavilion. MFX was still a newcomer last year and the OTC was the first international fair in which the company participated. 

Manufacturing umbilicals for the last 30 years, MFX is located in Salvador, in Bahia, where it has its own port and plant. It also has offices in Rio de Janeiro. The company has two competitors in Brazil (with international capital), however it is the only one of these companies that is 100% Brazilian.

According to Miranda, some of the main projects in which the company is currently involved include: P-37; P-52; P-55; P-57; the Gas Production Anticipation Plan (PLANGÁS); the Offshore Transfer and Export Unit (UOTE) in the Campos Basin and Papa Terra, the Lula Pilot Project in the Baleia Azul pre-salt field.
