Oil production in Brazil in October totaled 2.627 million barrels per day (bbl / d), a decrease of 0.9% compared to the previous month and an increase of 0.1% over the same month in 2016.

The production of natural gas totaled 115 million cubic meters per day (m3 / d), an increase of 0.5% in relation to the previous month and of 5.6% in relation to October 2016.

Total oil and natural gas production in the country was approximately 3.348 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe / d). The complete bulletin is available at: http://www.anp.gov.br/wwwanp/publicacoes/boletins-anp/2395-multilage-multi-production-production-natural-products.

Pre-salt

Pre-salt production in October totaled approximately 1.628 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, a reduction of 2.9% over the previous month. The production, from 79 wells, was 1.306 million barrels of oil per day and 51 million cubic meters of natural gas per day, corresponding to 48.6% of the total produced in Brazil.

The pre-salt wells are those whose production is carried out in the geological horizon called pre-salt, in fields located in the area defined in section IV of caput of article 2 of Law 12,351 / 2010.

Gas Burning

The use of natural gas in Brazil in October reached 97% of the total volume produced. Gas flaring totaled 3.4 million cubic meters per day, an increase of 0.5% compared to the previous month and a reduction of 8.9% compared to the same month in 2016.

Producer fields

The Lula field, in the Santos Basin, was the largest producer of oil and natural gas. It produced, on average, 808 thousand bbl / d of oil and 34.5 million m3 / d of natural gas.

Maritime fields produced 95.2% of oil and 79% of natural gas. The production occurred in 8,054 wells, of which 737 are seafarers and 7,317 are terrestrial. The fields operated by Petrobras produced 93.6% of the oil and natural gas. Estreito, in the Potiguar Basin, had the largest number of producing wells: 1,096. Marlim Sul, in the Campos Basin, was the maritime field with the largest number of producing wells: 96.

The FPSO Cidade de Itaguaí, producing in the Lula field, through 6 interconnected wells, produced 188.1 thousand boe / d and was the UEP (Stationary Production Unit) with the highest production.

Other information

In October 2017, 303 concession areas, an onerous assignment and a sharing, operated by 27 companies, were responsible for the national production. Of these, 80 are marine and 225 terrestrial concessions. It is worth mentioning that three of the total production areas are in exploratory activity and are produced through a Long-Term Test (TLD), and another eight are related to contracts in areas with marginal accumulations. For the third time, the Santos basin surpassed that of Campos in total production. The first was in July 2017 and the second in September.

The average API grade was 26.9, with 36% of the production being considered light oil (> = 31 ° API), 48.4% medium oil (> = 22 API and <31 API) and 15.6% heavy oil ( <22 API).

The mature terrestrial basins (fields / long-term tests of the Espírito Santo, Potiguar, Recôncavo, Sergipe and Alagoas basins) produced 130,000 boe / d, of which 104.8 thousand bbl / d of oil and 4 million m3 / d of natural gas. Of this total, 126.1 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day were produced by Petrobras and 5,1 thousand boe / d for concessions not operated by Petrobras, 326 boe / d in Alagoas, 2,353 boe / d in Bahia, 57 boe / d in Espírito Santo, 2,158 boe / d in Rio Grande do Norte and 208 boe / d in Sergipe.
