Petrobras signs contract with Portobello, Santa Catarina’s largest industrial gas consumer
The partnership consolidates Petrobras’ presence in Santa Catarina’s open gas market and marks the company’s entry into the ceramic sector.

Petrobras has signed a contract with Portobello, one of the largest industrial clients in the state of Santa Catarina and its biggest natural gas consumer. The agreement strengthens Petrobras' role in the state’s deregulated gas market and marks the company’s debut in supplying natural gas to the ceramic industry.

“We are in a phase of expanding and consolidating our client portfolio in the free natural gas market. The new contracts we’ve signed—such as this one, which represents Petrobras’ entry into a new sector—show that we are on the right track. The company is developing a new line of gas products, with a diversified portfolio of contracts to offer the best options to our business partners,” said Álvaro Tupiassu, Petrobras’ Executive Manager of Gas and Energy.

The company is investing more than US$7 billion in new natural gas infrastructure, in addition to offering a variety of flexible contracts tailored to customer needs, with different terms and pricing indexes.

For Portobello, the partnership represents a significant step toward boosting the company’s efficiency and competitiveness. The natural gas supply from Petrobras is aligned with Portobello Group’s focus on continuously improving its energy matrix while maintaining high industrial performance.

“Competitiveness in the ceramic industry is directly linked to energy efficiency. The partnership with Petrobras provides supply security and commercial conditions that meet the challenges of large-scale production, further strengthening our position as a benchmark in the sector,” said Luciano Abrantes (pictured), CEO of the Portobello unit of Portobello Group.
