Petrobras today inaugurated the station SludgeTreatment of Alberto Pasqualini Refinery (Refap) in Canoas (Rio Grande do Sul State), the first unit of sludge treatment to be implemented in Latin America. The system has the latest technology to convert part of the residue from processing petroleum recovered feedstock for producing gasoline and diesel, as well as for injection into solid coke (derived used in construction and industrial fuel).
Beyond the environmental gain related to waste reduction, the operation will generate savings by taking advantage of the residual oil from oily sludge and disposal of this sludge disposal logistics for treatment outside the refinery.
