The Port of Açu and OceanPact signed this Thursday (24), during the ROG.e fair in Rio de Janeiro, a Letter of Intent (LOI) for the expansion of the area occupied by the company at the port-industry complex in São João da Barra (RJ). The agreement aims to expand OceanPact's operational capacity and reinforce the infrastructure supporting the oil and gas chain in the region.

The term establishes the immediate availability of approximately 27,000 m² in addition to OceanPact's current area of 45,000 m² at the Port of Açu. In addition, the document grants the company a right of preference for the incorporation of another 60,000 m², which include approximately 100 meters of channel access. The planned expansion will enable the implementation of up to 300 meters of private quay for serving offshore support and service vessels.

Present at the Port of Açu since 2014, OceanPact uses the complex's infrastructure as a strategic base for environmental emergency response operations, maritime support, and Subsea services.

Logistics and offshore services hub

Located in front of the Campos Basin, the Port of Açu hosts the largest offshore support base in the world. The facility serves the entire oil and gas chain, from exploration to platform decommissioning. The Açu port complex is responsible for handling more than 30% of Brazil's oil exports. In addition, the Port leads initiatives for the maritime sector's energy transition, integrating solutions such as shore power (quayside electrification), testing with low-emission fuels, and sustainable ship recycling.
