The wells already installed in the pre-salt layer have achieved productivity far superior to the global average. Average productivity per well in commercial operation in the Santos Basin pre-salt cluster has been around 25,000 bpd, higher than that seen in the North Sea (15,000 bpd per well) and the Gulf of Mexico (10,000 bpd per well).

Some pre-salt wells in Santos Basin have produced more than 30,000 bpd, such as LL-11, in the Lula Northeast pilot project, with an average flow of 31,000 bpd, as well as SPS-77 and SPH-04, in the Sapinhoá pilot project, each with average output of 34,000 bpd.

Another good example of this is FPSO Cidade de Angra dos Reis, which operates in Lula field, in the pre-salt layer of Santos Basin, where just four wells produce enough to practically occupy the platform’s total operating capacity, of 100,000 bpd. This platform was originally designed to produce with six wells, each one producing 16,000 bpd on average. However, due to the high productivity of the wells, which have been producing around 24,000 bpd on average, far above the initial forecast, just four wells have been connected to the platform, representing an enormous investment saving.
