The Henrique Lage Refinery (Revap), located in São José dos Campos (SP), will begin a scheduled maintenance shutdown this Saturday (Sept. 13), mobilizing more than 5,000 workers, including employees and contractors. With an investment of over R$ 1 billion, the intervention will include not only maintenance services but also a strategic project to expand S-10 diesel production. The shutdown is expected to be completed in December.

Work started at the Delayed Coking Unit (U-276) and, over the coming months, will cover the maintenance of 1,673 pieces of equipment across 21 operating units. The operation also includes the modernization (Revamp) of Unit U-272D, which will be upgraded for the production of S-10 diesel, a more efficient and sustainable fuel.

During the shutdown, regulatory inspections will be carried out, along with preventive and corrective maintenance. “This shutdown is unique because it combines preventive maintenance with the simultaneous implementation of projects focused on increasing reliability, energy efficiency, and equipment integrity, aligned with Petrobras’ Strategic Plan,” says Alexandre Coelho Cavalcanti, Revap’s General Manager.

Scheduled every six years, the maintenance shutdown is essential to ensuring the refinery’s operational safety and the continued reliable supply of petroleum products. Despite the temporary reduction in production, Petrobras guarantees that fuel supply will not be affected. The company prepares stockpiles in advance and coordinates sales and logistics operations to maintain normal customer service.

Production

With the capacity to process up to 252,000 barrels of oil per day, Revap accounts for around 14% of Petrobras’ refined product output. The refinery is a benchmark in aviation kerosene production, supplying 75% of the demand at São Paulo’s Guarulhos International Airport. It also produces gasoline, S-10 diesel, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), mainly serving the Metropolitan Region of Vale do Paraíba and the North Coast of São Paulo.
