Sete Brasil’s rig hull already in Rio de Janeiro
The lower hull of semi-submersible rig Urca landed on the last Wednesday in Rio de Janeiro. Will be integrated to the hull six large blocks, with about 1.7 million tonnes in total, mounted in Estaleiro Brasfels of Keppel Offshore & Marine, in Angra dos Reis, Rio de Janeiro. This is the first time that this type of operation is performed in the Brazil. The blocks, the main part of the equipment, shall be placed on the floating structure (Pontoons) of Urca. The upper structures are attempted construction process.
The structure with 55% of local content, was transported to Brazil by the Dockwise Vanguard vessel, who left Singapore in December, using dry tow system, which is safer, faster and more efficient. From Wednesday through the end of 2015, when it will be handed over to be chartered to Petrobras, will be continued to the installation of the blocks.
"The arrival of this hoof marks the closing of the cycle of building the probe Urca abroad. Altogether, Sete Brasil will have to order 29 rigs, which are separated into three packages. Urca is part of the first nine will be the second to be delivered in the period of 2015-2016", said João Carlos Ferraz, CEO of Sete Brasil.
The first, the drillship Arpoador, will be delivered by Estaleiro Jurong in this year, also with an estimated 55% local content. The twelve others will be hired in the period 2017-2018 and the last eight, between 2019 and 2020. The total Capex of Sete Brasil project is R$ 25.6 billion.
