At the close of the third day of O&G TechWeek, Siemens Brazil's Vice President of Digital Industry, Pablo Roberto Fava, presented the company's seven principles for an effective digital transition: experience, focus, speed, resources, trust, courage and relationship. With training needs and cultural change at the center of the debate, Fava left an optimistic message about Brazil.

"We have done a couple of Hackathons rounds in Brazil and found that we have very smart young people around here. For me, personally, it was a very interesting learning," he said, addressing the digital transformation in companies.

In the same panel, Augusto Borella, general manager of digital transformation at Petrobras, said that people need to be inspired to solve problems by innovating in processes. According to him, it is important to continue innovating with research and development, but it is essential to innovate in processes. For this, he suggested the creation of sandbox type test environments, where it is possible to build experimentation environments. "It's important to be able to fail fast to fix fast," he said.

Both stressed the importance of professionals preparing to be able to enable even those projects that do not have tangible immediate results, which are not always welcomed by managers. "We need to be prepared to sell well. Sometimes we don't sell well," said Borella, stressing that there is an effort at Petrobras to create indicators that "tangible" projects, but that all companies today have channels to evaluate these proposals. less clear.

Cases and Technologies

Wednesday afternoon panels were also marked by the presentation of cases and technologies being applied in companies and by suppliers such as Brabauer, Samson Control, Leser and Festo.

Festo's portfolio manager for Latin America, José Folha Mós Neto, addressed one of the biggest dilemmas of innovation: the ethical issue. He introduced a bionic hand, developed from technologies that have been tested on animal-inspired drones developed by the company, such as bats, elephants, ants, etc.

"We have this area of bionics, but until today we do not sell equipment. There is no lack of interest. We are sought by companies and even samba schools, but it is not a commercial area. It is a research area," he said, stressing that the prototype It can help many people, but you need to be aware. "No one can predict the future, but it is important to worry about education, the values that will guide that future," he added.

Games

The so-called gamification strategy of turning solutions into games is also featured at O&G TechWeek. Petrobras introduced FPSO 7, a staff game that brings the experience of immersive reality to prevent risky situations on oil rigs. Aveva, Firjan and Repsol presented examples of virtual reality and augmented reality that reproduce operating environments. Already Microsoft, brought the software XHQ, which acts as a "map" of asset management, monitoring equipment and plants.

The O&G Techweek 2019 ends this Thursday (30), at AQWA Corporate, in Rio de Janeiro's port region with lectures, technology rounds, hackathons and ideation sessions.

TechWeek is sponsored by Petrobras, Tishman Speyer, Startup Factory, Repsol Sinopec, Siemens, Aker Solutions, Aveva, Deloitte, Hexagon, KPMG, Pepperl + Fuchs, Petronet, PwC and Innovaphone.
