Swire Oilfield Services, the world’s largest supplier of DNV 2.7-1offshore cargo carrying units (CCUs), and leading supplier of cargo carrying solutions, modular systems, offshore aviation services and fluid management for the oil and gas industry, has invested in the development of a state-of-the-art environmentally friendly operational base in Bellavista, Macaé, Brazil.


The 60,000m2 facility has been in development for the past two years and includes an administration hub, loading and unloading area, CCU maintenance, test, inspection and washing yard and a slings manufacturing facility.


Opened on Wednesday 10thJune 2015, the facility has increased local employment opportunities and was designed in line with the company’s commitment to sustainable development by aiming to minimise the impact of activities upon the environment as well as providing a safe and healthy workplace for staff.


Swire Oilfield Services implemented a number of eco-friendly solutions during the design and construction stages of the base including a waste management warehouse, water reservoir, 50m2 of solar panels for water heating, water treatment station, sewage treatment station and parking for bicycles and electric vehicles.


Marcelo Nacif, Brazil General Manager commented: “The base was opened to better meet our customers’ needs in Macaé. We have experienced a significant increase in interest in our products and services and it has provided us with the opportunity to invest locally in line with our sustainable development programme.”


Richard Sell, Group Chief Operating Officer, who came to Brazil for the inauguration of the base, added: “The opening of the base reaffirms our long term commitment to the Brazilian market as part of our five-year growth strategy, Vision 2020. We will continue to focus on sustainable growth supported by our commitment to quality, safety and innovation in the country.”


Swire Oilfield Services first entered the Brazilian market in 2011 and has since grown to be the market leader in supplying DNV 2.7-1cargo carrying solutions.
