On May 22, in Salvador (BA), Transpetro launched the Transformar program, a social initiative aimed at improving the employability of residents near its operations through professional qualification actions. The project's implementation was made possible by an agreement signed with the city hall of Madre de Deus during the opening of Bahia Oil & Gas Energy 2024 at the Salvador Convention Center. Transpetro already runs the Transformar program in São Sebastião (SP).
Transpetro's president, Sérgio Bacci, participated in the signing of the agreement and emphasized the importance of this corporate program, which focuses on social development and economically strengthens the local community of Madre de Deus.
"Transpetro is committed to the regions where it operates and, in this project, joins forces with the public authorities to train people and create new professional opportunities. We made a point of announcing the Transformar program at the event because we know that many employers in this sector are here and may, in the future, open positions for our project's graduates. We will act as catalysts for this transformation, paying attention to those who are in the most socially vulnerable situations. We believe in education as a transformative tool for lives," Bacci highlighted during the announcement of the partnership.
The Transformar program's differential is its foundational work, which includes assessing the territory's needs, mapping worker profiles, identifying industry job demands, considering new investment prospects, and defining training requirements, among other factors. This set of information aims to reduce worker migration and increase the chances for employment to remain in the region.
Also during Bahia Oil & Gas Energy, Transpetro shares its expertise in one of the most prominent logistical operations for its more than 160 clients. Ship-to-ship (STS) oil and derivative transfer operations increased by 33% in 2023 compared to 2022, totaling 873 maneuvers nationwide. This logistics option can reduce transportation costs by up to 30% in the maritime sector.
In this business line, operations in Baía de Todos os Santos (Bahia) from the Madre de Deus Terminal (Temadre) are strategic for the company. Transpetro is the market leader in this type of operation in Brazil and one of the largest STS providers in the world.
Transpetro is one of the sponsors of Bahia Oil & Gas Energy 2024, an event that brings together 230 companies and startups related to the sector. The company is present at the exhibition with the booth "Vamos aonde o Brasil Precisar" to showcase its main actions in the market. Visitors lined up at the booth to have an immersive and interactive experience with Transpetro's operations and services.
In his speech at the opening ceremony, President Sérgio Bacci greeted the workers from Bahia and reaffirmed the state's strategic importance for the company: "Restoring Transpetro's leadership in Bahia is one of the goals of our management. Not only in business but also in social responsibility," he emphasized.
Transpetro exclusively sponsors two more spaces at the event: the Supply Meeting by Transpetro, which promotes commercial exchanges between national and international companies, buyers, and suppliers in the sector, and the Technical Section by Transpetro, dedicated to technical works. Of the scheduled presentations, nine are being conducted by Transpetro workers, along with poster sessions, representing 30% of all content shared in the space.
Transpetro's commitment to diversity is also highlighted at the event, with a breastfeeding support service on site. The company has equipped the lactation room with a freezer for storing milk collected by visitors during the event and provides a leaflet with guidelines for breastfeeding mothers. Maternity support spaces are being installed at all Transpetro terminals.
