The Brazilian State University of Campinas (Unicamp), moved up two positions in the ranking Top 50 Under 50, the British educational consultancy Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), pointing out the top 50 universities founded less than 50 years.
Founded in 1966, Unicamp was in 15th place in the 2013/2014 edition, after occupying the 17th position in 2013 and 22th in 2012, when the list was released. Still in 2013, she excelled in the Times Higher Education (THE), in 28th place among the top hundred universities and 50 years - 16 places ahead compared to the previous ranking of THE.
As in the last edition of the QS, Unicamp follows as only Brazilian representative list typified schools in Asia, Oceania and the Middle East. There is only one other Latin American institution in the rankings, Argentina Universidad Austral, in 36th position.

Then, the proportion of teachers in relation to the number of students (20%), the proportion of academic citations per teacher (20%), the university's reputation in the labor market (10%) and the proportion of teachers (5% come ) and students (5%) foreigners.
The data that form the basis for the ranking are the QS World University Rankings 2013/14, which includes old and new universities and Unicamp which appears in 215th place (the position in the previous edition was the number 228). The only Brazilian better placed is the University of São Paulo (USP), in 127th place.
The ranking of the youngest universities is headed for a second time by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), established in 1991 and 34th overall.
The website highlights that universities QS Asia - occupying six of the top ten positions of the Top 50 Under 50 - have strengthened their presence in the international rankings over the last decade, including a large number of young institutions that have benefited from a strong government investment and in many cases soon became attractive to the best teachers and students around the world.
Other points highlighted appointed by QS are Australia, with the largest number of universities (nine) in the ranking, and the diversity of countries represented in the list (27 in total).
