With 4.7 GW of contracted power , 142 % more than the target of 2GW , the Brazilian Wind Energy Association (ABEEólica) considers that the year 2013 was "record". Altogether, the wind power attended three energy auctions from new projects (Reserve Energy Auction - Exclusive RSI for wind power , A-3 and A-5) - four performed.
According to the Monthly Bulletin of the Wind Industry Data produced by ABEEólica, the month of December 2013 ended with an additional 10MW in capacity over the previous month , reaching 3.46 GW, distributed in 142 wind farms. The energy source remains representing 3 % of the installed power capacity in Brazil.
Rio Grande do Norte (3,654.2 MW), Bahia (3320.0 MW), Ceará (2325.7 MW) and Rio Grande do Sul (1,978.9 MW) are the states that are leading the developments in the country.
